Ethereum vs Ethereum Classic debate Andreas Antonopoulos, Anthony Di Lorio and Charles Hoskinson

It is so obvious when u/aantonop is being disingenuous. He keeps saying that “at one point” yesterday ETC achieved 30% market price and hashrate of ETH. Doesn’t mention that today it achieved less than 20% “at one point.”

All this talk about breaking the social contract is nonsense. Part of the social contract IS that if the majority wants a change, the change will happen. That is the whole premise of the blockchain’s consensus algorithm. In addition, none of these ‘experts’ were able to see the bigger picture; Ethereum is only 1 year old. Due to its lack of adoption, it is relatively easy to mess with things like immutability at this stage. This will become more and more difficult as adoption grows over time, until it becomes impossible. Ethereum is talked about like it is a mature product due to its market cap. It is not. Hardforking Bitcoin in 2010 was much easier than it is in 2016.

Also, he claims there has been no accurate way of measuring the will of the community, and yet he is certain that he has accurately assessed that the community feels “evil bitcoin maximalists” are to blame for the temporary rise of ETC. Did he force people to stake something before he assessed that was their opinion? Why is it so easy to see that the community blames bitcoin maximalists, yet so difficult (darn!) to achieve confidence in their feelings about the fork.
